Going to SAGES 2021? Connect With Jackson Medical

It’s been way too long since our Jackson Medical team has attended a live event, and we couldn’t be more excited to pack our bags, don our masks and attend SAGES 2021 at the MGM Grand from August 31 – September 3. If you’re heading to Vegas, be sure to stop by booth 452 near the Learning Center and say hello!

SAGES 2021

About SAGES 2021

This will be Jackson Medical’s first year at the event, and we can’t wait to interact with the pioneering community of laparoscopic and endoscopic surgeons. The Society of American Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons (SAGES) has a long history of improving patient safety through education, research, innovation and leadership. With a history dating back to 1981 and more than 7,000 general surgeon members from around the globe, this is a can’t-miss event for minimally invasive surgeons.

We were fortunate enough to get to know the organization earlier this year when our fiber-optic light cable cover, GloShield, was featured in a research paper in Surgical Endoscopy, the society’s journal. The article highlighted the fire and burn risks related to fiber-optic light cables in the OR, and tested the efficacy of our GloShield device. When used properly, GloShield was found to prevent thermal injury in various conditions.

One session we’re really looking forward to is Strategies to Maintain Safety in the Operating Room on Wednesday (9/1) 5:30 PM – 6:30 PM (Program of the Americas). The panel will discuss strategies to maintain safety through the entire operation, limit the number of potential complications intraoperatively and train the next generation of surgeons.

Promoting Patient Safety in the OR

These days, patient safety is under a microscope and facilities are under pressure to establish a safer standard of care. While that may sound like a tall order, we’ve made it simple to eliminate preventable harm like burns and fires caused by fiber-optic light cables. These cables can exceed temperatures of 500 degrees Fahrenheit and ignite a surgical drape in just six seconds. While there are anywhere from 550 to 650 operating fires annually in the United States, many of these devastating events can easily be prevented.

Using a GloShield is an easy, intuitive way to prevent “never events” in the OR without compromising the existing workflow in your busy OR. Our simple, easy-to-use fiber-optic light cable cover was made for minimally invasive surgeons. Be sure to stop by our booth to see the simple device for yourself and pick up some free sterile samples. Can’t make it to Vegas? Request a free trial and we’ll send you individually-pouched, sterile GloShields in a convenient, self-starter trial box you can take into the OR.
